Many years ago having watched the tv series and knowing in the main what would unfold within it's pages I purchased a copy of Brideshead Revisited and read it hungrily, now it's pages are browning and curled for they have been turned many times during the four or five subsequent reads over the past 20 years. Looking across the book shelves I realise there are others that have called me back for a second or third read and others that I know I will get back to as well as those that never inticed me past Chapter 1.
So what makes us return to the favourites and why indeed do they become our favourites originally, is it the complete escapisim into a world we would otherwise never see? Maybe it is the inspirtion of a characters strength or possibly a connection with the plot. What ever made me do it, here are a few I was compelled to return more than once.
